The Office: Garden Party

I meant to do this one a while ago but I’ve only now got around to it. I loved this episode so I decided to make my own slideshow with all the rules for throwing a garden party from Jim’s book. There was a similar thing on NBC.com but some of the rules didn’t match up with what was said in the episode, so I made this one correct lol, though I did make several up based on what happened in the episode in order to fill in the gaps and have a full set of ten. For those of you who didn’t watch the episode or maybe don’t remember, the basic premise was that Dwight was trying to throw the perfect garden party for Andy so he goes online and buys the last “Throwing A Garden Party” book, which it just so happens was actually written by Jim. The book is filled with a bunch of ridiculous rules for the party which Dwight of course follows to the letter. It was pretty hilarious. So I hope you enjoy : )

Number 1: Battle of Endor(Star Wars:Return of the Jedi)

“It’s A Trap!”

This one seems sorta duh. But I did try very hard to consider how Wolf 359 or something could rank above this. Then I rewatched the battle and couldn’t help but put it at number one. I mean come on, it’s just freaking awesome. All the little fighters buzzing around shooting everything and being all awesome, then the Super Star Destroyer getting disabled and crashing into the Death Star. And of course there’s the chase through the ridiculously narrow passage into the heart of the Death Star and the race out where we hear Lando’s yell of triumph. It’s all just so beautiful. And Wedge is a beast.

This all was fun. Hope you enjoyed hearing my opinions about all this nerd stuff. Hopefully no one gets too upset about the order I chose or what I may have left out haha. Speaking of, I figure I’ll give a few of the battles that I didn’t think were quite cool enough to make it…Battle of the Colony(BSG series finale), Battle over Coruscant(SW:ep3), Battle of Sector 001(ST:First Contact), Battle of Hephaistos(Andromeda premier). Number 2: Battle of Wolf 359(ST: TNG)

“Resistance is Futile”

Number two!!! This battle is probably the single most influential in all of Star Trek. It was the event that established the Borg as one of the most intimidating and feared evil races in all of sci-fi. This battle, sorta like my number six, wasn’t a battle but a massacre. Starfleet and the Klingons got together a fleet of forty ships and they all got ripped apart by the single Borg cube. While this battle takes place during the run of The Next Generation, we just get to hear the battle and see the aftermath. Its not until the premier of Deep Space Nine that any part of the battle is seen(which is what the vid is from). Despite not getting much screen time, I still put this battle as number two for its huge influence and awesomeness. Number 3: Battle over Antarctica(Stargate SG1)

“Terra Atlantus”

Okay maybe this isn’t technically a space battle since most of the fighting takes place in the sky over Antarctica, but all the ships and fighters involved are space-worthy so it counts! Besides, its the most badass battle in Stargate so it had to be included. There’s actually a bit more shown of the battle in a later episode(Avalon Pt. 1). The initial clash between the Goa’uld death gliders and Earth F-302′s is awesome. And having the Prometheus hovering over the cargo ship to protect it is cool, then it heads straight up to take on the massive ship in orbit with every intention of doing as much damage as possible. The drone weapons saving the day was the most epic part, and those become super important later on in the series. Despite all the awesomeness of this battle though, there’s still two more that beat it out. That’s not for today though…

Number 4: Battle over New Caprica(BSG)

“Damn you, Lee… Thank you, Lee.”

There is no doubt that this is my favorite battle in all of Battlestar Galactica(the reimagined series of course). I love seeing Galactica make its FTL jump in the sky above the colony and steadily get bigger and bigger as it descends then jump again seemingly right above everyone’s heads. Then the Pegasus‘s suicide run to save Galactica is pretty awesome too. Of course the ground battle to save everyone from the colony on the planet is cool, but that’s not the important part for this lol. I tried very hard to find a good video for this one but I couldn’t find one with the normal audio. This one is set to the actual music from the scene in the show though so I didn’t mind it too much. This battle almost made it higher on the list but alas, it was not to be, so you’ll have to keep up for a few more days to see what beat it out ha.

Number 5: Universe Battle(Serenity)

“Target the Reavers. Target the Reavers! Somebody shoot!”

I couldn’t find a video to go with this one but this picture is still pretty awesome. I absolutely love the moment when the Reavers burst through the clouds and the Operative just starts freaking out. And seeing the Alliance ships getting grappled and ripped apart is pretty intense. I have to admit, its a pretty darn cruel way to run a blockade, but it worked well haha. And while its not an active participant of the battle, watching Serenity weave its way through all the fighting and death is sweet. Poor Wash had to die after they landed though… so out of spite I only rank this fifth! Ha well also because there are four others I like better.

Number 6: Battle of P3Y-229(Stargate SG1)

“Those who are prideful… shall be laid low, and made unto dust”

EVERYBODY DIES. Well almost. The Ori ships(bad guys) are unscathed and of course the main cast miraculously makes it out but still! This isn’t so much a space battle as a massacre. The combined fleet of Earth, Jaffa, Lucian Alliance and Asgard vessels just gets taken apart by only four Ori ships. Its freaking epic and served to show just how screwed the galaxy was now that the supergate was active. Also I love how this continues the trend in Stargate of the Russians just getting screwed all the time. Their first battleship, the Korolev, is blown to smithereens while the US Air Force ship is damaged but still mostly intact. This battle made for an awesome cliffhanger at the end of season nine. Still, its only my sixth favorite, so keep reading this week to find out which battles I think are even MORE awesome.

and sorry that the video isn’t awesome quality but its the best I could find that didn’t have some dumb song over it. And it totally doesn’t have the quote I wrote in it, which is said right after the Ori ships exit the supergate. But you should get the idea haha.
